Uniform: The uniform for the game will be "green and black" if you have the green golf shirt and black pants. If not, then a green shirt and dark colored pants is sufficient.
Game Seating: The Alumni Band will be seated in the north endzone area.
Rehearsal: The only rehearsal for alumni participants will be on Saturday, October 27, 2007 the day of the game. Alumni will meet at the top of the north tunnel at 3:00 PM for admission into the game and practice of pregame. The rehearsal will start at about 3:25 that day. Tickets will be provided and distributed at the top of the North Tunnel when you arrive.
Flags: We will provide flag equipment for you and will be getting in touch with you about rehearsal.
Transportation: The main stadium parking lot opens at 2:30 PM. Once you park, please walk to the top of the North Tunnel for entrance into the stadium. Please try and get to the Tunnel by 3:00
Instruments: Need an instrument? If we have what you need, we will be glad to check it out to you. Call George in the Band Office at 956-5207. We will provide sousaphones and percussion equipment. All others should call as soon as possible to sign out an instrument if we have one.
2007 Alumni Band Schedule (tentative):
2:30 - Enter Stadium at Top of North Tunnel
3:00 - Pregame rehearsal begins
4:00 - Reheasal ends, catered dinner ($15) to be served
5:30 - Get ready for pregame performance and play music in stands
A catered dinner will be served for Alumni Band members after reheasal in the tunnel area (Diamond Head side). You might want to bring along a goza (beach man) or something to sit on.
As in past years, the Alumni Band will march on the inside of our regular pregame block. The order will be:
- Blockband Formation (Perc. Cadence, march onto field)
- Fight For Old Hawaii / On To Victory / Hawaiian War Chant
- National Anthem
- Hawaii Ponoi
- Co-Ed (March off of field)
Please let us know if you will be coming by September 29, also we need you to fill out the online Alumni personnel form. We need time to create the charts, get music ready, and to get organized.
Make the evening even more special by calling up a few of your "old" classmates from band, and join us as a group. The more, the merrier. With people moving around over the years, it's for us to keep our address file up-to-date. Some of your favorite bandpersons may not even receive this letter!
We will be handing out music and additional pep songs on the day of the game. We are looking forward to seeing you all again on Saturday, October 27, 2007!
Brandnt Payne, Marching Band Director
Gwen Nakamura, Assistant Band Director
Note: Tom Bingham is still our distinguished music department chair but will definitely be at the homecoming, so practice all your old favorites like Horse, Land of 1000 Dances, and especially Hawaii 5-0.
